THE EDITH CONSORTIUM

Description of the Consortium

The consortium consists of

  1. the research centre FORWISS with recognised experience in relational databases. FORWISS is in charge of advanced R&D topics (meta data management, query language extensions, performance analysis) and giving assistance in all relevant data modelling tasks.

FORWISS ist the coordinator of EDITH.

  2. the SME TransAction Software GmbH implements the MHC/HI technique, query optimisation algorithms and gives technical support for installation and operation at the partner sites. Further, TransAction Software is leading exploitation.

  3. the SME AIS, a leading decision support system company in Italy. AIS is specialised on graphical visualisation and evaluation of data warehouse and data mining results. The product VisualMine will be adapted to TransBase/MHC.

  4. the research institute ICCS is in charge of query optimisation techniques, query cost analysis and performance evaluation.

  5. the application partner UNIXFOR consults and implements the data warehouse port of Kotsovolos' data warehouse to TransBase MHC.

  6. the end user partner Kotsovolos covers the important application field of data warehousing. During the project, the MHC technology will be applied to Kotsovolos' data warehouse to demonstrate the performance gains and benefits of the technology. The port of the Kotosovolos application will be done with the help of UNIXFOR.

  7. the application partner GLOBEMA is a specialist for Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Currently GIS applications implemented by Globema are based on Smallworld tools. During this project, GLOBEMA will apply the MHC/HI technology and front-end tool to the spatial data management applications. Performance and benefits of the technology in real-world environment with real data will be investigated.
